Furthermore, PVC foam board is particularly well-suited for mechanical vertical pipeline transport; compared to other methods, it can boost work efficiency by 6 to 10 times.
For roof and exterior wall insulation, PVC foam board offers unmatched thermal performance and strong adhesion to structural layers. Its ease of installation, eco-friendliness, significant time savings, and economic benefits make it an ideal substitute for other insulation materials like polystyrene (EPS) boards. In southern regions, it is even ingeniously fabricated into bricks to meet insulation needs for roofs and exterior walls, delivering equally excellent performance.

However, although PVC foam board is regarded internationally as a high-potential "alternative to traditional wood" and is widely used across various sectors, performance requirements vary depending on the specific application. For instance, "residential PVC board" prioritizes safety, environmental friendliness, comfort, and performance in specific environments, whereas "commercial PVC board" emphasizes durability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of cleaning and maintenance. At the same time, there are common misconceptions regarding PVC foam board; a better understanding of its true performance characteristics and application advantages is needed.
Flame retardancy does not mean it is "impossible to burn";
Some mistakenly believe that if a PVC foam board catches fire when exposed to a lighter flame, it is not fire-resistant, whereas if it does not ignite, it is flame-retardant. This is a misconception. National standards mandate a specific fire rating for PVC foam board: Class Bf1-t0. Under national standards, non-combustible materials-such as stone and ceramic tiles-are classified as Class A. The technical criteria for the Bf1-t0 flame retardancy standard involve placing an alcohol-soaked cotton ball (10 mm in diameter) on the PVC flooring and allowing it to burn naturally. Once the cotton ball has burned out, the diameter of the scorch mark on the flooring is measured; if the diameter is less than 50 mm, the material meets the Bf1-t0 standard.
Environmental friendliness cannot be judged solely by "smell";
PVC material itself does not contain formaldehyde, and the use of formaldehyde is strictly prohibited during its production process. Although high-quality PVC foam boards may emit a slight odor immediately after leaving the factory, this is not due to harmful substances and poses no threat to human health; the smell dissipates naturally after a period of ventilation.
"Wear resistance" does not mean "scratch-proof against sharp objects";
Some people mistakenly believe that if a sharp object-such as a small knife or a key-leaves no visible scratch on the PVC flooring surface, the flooring is wear-resistant. However, national testing standards for the wear resistance of PVC flooring are far more complex than this. Professional national testing agencies employ specialized equipment and methods to subject the flooring to rigorous wear-resistance tests to ensure compliance with standards.
